VENEZIA – gennem århundreder den mægtigste handels- og flådemagt mellem Europa og Orienten. Med sine mange uvurderlige kunst- og kulturskatte ophører Venezia aldrig med at fortrylle, men i stigende grad også med at bekymre. Et verdensarvssted, bygget i lagunen på lave sandbanker i Adriaterhavets tidevand, der konstant udsættes for trusler fra både naturen og mennesker. Indtil videre har Venezia trodset disse trusler.
For at hjælpe og samarbejde med restaurering og bevaring af kunstskatte står en række organisationer – både lokale og internationale – bag en række indsatser, koordineret af “Comitati Privati Internazionali per la Savaguardia di Venezia”. Pro Venezia Danmark er en af dem.
I sit virke vil Komiteen holde nær kontakt med de bestræbelser, der med tilsvarende overordnede målsætninger udfoldes af komiteer og sammenslutninger i andre lande. Dette vil bl.a. ske gennem det samarbejde som er etableret under navnet ”Comitati Privati Internazionali per la Salvaguardia di Venezia”. Komiteen vil i sit virke desuden arbejde for at kulturelle, studie- og uddannelsesmæssige aktiviteter vil blive tillagt høj prioritet.
Vores aktiviteter muliggøres af bidrag fra private, såvel som fra virksomheder og fonde.
Historik:
I efteråret 1966 led Venedig den værste oversvømmelse i mands minde. Ødelæggelserne rejste hurtigt et spørgsmål om Venedigs fremtid. Ville den gamle lagune by med alle dens minder og skatte synke til bunden af havet som et sent Atlantis? En Pompeji på havbunden? Alarmklokkerne lød over hele den vestlige verden. Vandeksperter, arkitekter, konservatorer og mange andre eksperter begyndte at samles omkring Grand Canal for at se, hvad der skulle gøres. Efter det britiske initiativ blev der dannet omkring tredive Save-Venice-foreninger i forskellige lande, herunder Pro Venezia i Danmark, for at genoprette kunstskatte. Indsatsen, der stadig er i gang, finansieres næsten udelukkende med private donationer og fundraisers og koordineret af UNESCO i samarbejde med Comitati Privati Internazionali per la Salvaguardia Di Venezia.
The Association of International Private Committees for the Safeguarding of Venice comprive.org is a federation of non profit organizations, whose main purpose is to promote and finance restorations of Venice artistic heritage. Moreover, they exert a constant watch on its artistic, urban and natural heritage and intervene, either directly or through international media, in order to prevent potentially harmful initiatives. They also grant scholarships and finance scientific activities in the field of restoration, and undertake fund-raising promotional activities. The initiatives promoted and financed by the Committees since 1966 to date have made 1,000 restorations regarding artifacts, publicly owned, belonging to the historical and artistic heritage of the lagoon City. The Committees worked for a long time in the framework of a Joint Programme with UNESCO, collaborating with the UN agency and the local office of the Italian Culture. On the contrary, now the Association receives a list of priorities from the Superintendencies and other local entities -such as the Comune di Venezia or the Patriarchal Curiaand the individual Committees, select the monuments and works of art they wish to restore with their own financial means and donations. On other occasions they select their project directly and not from the priorities indicated by the institutions. The works are usually directed by the Superintendency. Individual Committees supervise the works and contribute to the directives for their proper execution.
